Nini Jaliashvili
Local Residency

3 – 18 October, 2025
Solo Exhibition
Nini Jaliashvili's creation emerges from an unstructured, intuitive space — where thoughts, memories, and language flicker in and out like brief, spontaneous flashes. Works often form through these impulses, coalescing into narratives or scenes that feel deeply rooted in the subconscious. Finished pieces tend to raise new questions or offer unexpected clarity, acting as mirrors for ideas not yet fully understood.

Art becomes a form of instinctive dialogue with life — a game of chance, discovery, and reflection. It serves as a way to explore identity, relationships, and the subtle connections between people and the world around them.

The choice of medium shifts with mood and intention. Oil and acrylic often appear on canvas, while watercolor, ink, gouache, pencil, and oil pastels are used on paper and other surfaces. Mixed media frequently comes into play, especially in works that extend beyond traditional formats.

Her creative expression has been presented in a range of exhibitions and residencies across Georgia and abroad. In September 2025, Jaliashvili participated in the Ria Keburia Art Residency at the Ambassador in Kachreti, Georgia. Earlier that year, she took part in «Reflections» at Vanda Art Gallery, Tbilisi, and «Children of Resistance» at De Bouwput Gallery, Amsterdam (June 2025). In May 2025, she presented «Searching for the Fisherman Driver» at the Chubinashvili Center, Tbilisi — curated by Mariam Shakarashvili — marking a significant milestone as her first major solo exhibition.

In February 2025, she joined the Ria Keburia Art Residency in Cannes, France. During 2024, her work was featured in several group and solo presentations, including «Capitano, Go Get Me Some Firewood» at Cube in Context, Tbilisi; her first solo exhibition at New Platform; «Who Needs a Concept» at Artarea, Tbilisi; and «Yes, Nothing Is Okay» at Art Villa Garikula as part of the Festinova project.
