Memory archive. Collected stories

Amidst the madness of new military conflicts and intolerance, it is crucial to reflect on love, memory, traditions, and connections that nourish and energize us, providing the motivation to move forward. In the context of an art exhibition, cultural identity is utilized to seek similarities despite it being a challenging task. Artists work within the contexts of memory, time, and their political, social, and spiritual aspects.
Stories presented here were being passed down from generation to generation as family artifacts.

Artists rethink them, giving them new formats and uncovering new meanings. They also serve as an attempt to bridge the gap between generations and cultures, to preserve and share family histories. The exhibition reimagines lost family artefacts and verbally shared stories, breathing life into vital memories. Amidst the challenges of war and immigration, preserving family stories – especially objects and archives becomes a difficult and delicate task.

For example, Thea Spector in the project "Emptiness Between" reflects on the experience of losing a home, attempting to live without any regrets and the difficult process of starting anew, the fear of losing everything again. Masha Shprayzer searches for connections between languages, highlighting worlds and infusing a sense of poetry through materials using a soft watercolour technique on a fabric. The letters appear blurry, leaving the room for contemplation. Masha Neverova's project tells a very personal story, steeped in escapism. Her sensual graphics become a portal to the past, where she could once again feel safe and surrounded by her loved ones.

These reflections allow us to recreate memories and explore diverse perspectives through different artistic mediums, transforming and translating stories into the language of the contemporary art. This process also aids in understanding and draws us closer, appealing to participation and deeper analysis of our surroundings.
